2-Day Sample Itinerary for the All-Inclusive Playcation Package at Horseshoe Valley Resort
Planning a family trip with young kids is easier when the big pieces are already covered. With our All-Inclusive Playcation Package, accommodations, meals, and a wide range of activities are included, which means less planning and more flexibility once you arrive. It also means you know exactly what you’re going to end up spending on this mini-vacation.
Check-in is at 4pm, and your first included meal is dinner on arrival day. However, families can still arrive earlier in the day and start enjoying the included activities before checking into their room.
Here’s what a simple 2-day family getaway could look like.
Day 1: Arrive early, play first, check in later
Late morning or early afternoon: Arrive and start with activities
Even though room check-in is at 4pm, you can arrive earlier and begin using the included activities. This is a great way to make the most of your first day, especially if you are driving from the GTA and want the trip to feel like it starts right away.
Families may want to eat before arriving, pack a simple lunch, or purchase lunch onsite — Shoe Brew is an easy option for grab & go options.
Afternoon: Start at Lake Horseshoe
Spend the first part of the afternoon at Lake Horseshoe. This is a good first activity because it is flexible and works well for younger kids. They can swim, play in the sand, splash near the water, or simply explore at their own pace. There are paddleboards and kayaks, lake inflatables, and a tube pull cable at the lake to elevate the fun.
If everyone is happy, stay longer. If the kids need a change, it is easy to move on to another activity nearby.
Late afternoon: Gemstone mining or mini golf
Before check-in, choose one simple activity.
Gemstone mining is a great option for younger kids because it is hands-on and easy to understand. They can sift, search, and collect their finds without needing a lot of instruction. It is located so close to the patio, that parents could enjoy a beverage while the kids discover their gems.
Mini golf is another good choice, especially because young kids do not need to follow every rule or finish all 18 holes. Since it is included, you can try it without feeling like the activity has to be a major event.
4pm: Check in and reset
At 4pm, check into your room and take a short break. This is a good time to change out of wet clothes, unpack the basics, and give everyone a few minutes to reset before dinner.
For families with young kids, this pause can make the evening go much smoother — it might be time for a snack so everyone makes it to dinner in good spirits.
Dinner: Included
Dinner on check-in day is your first included meal with the All-Inclusive Playcation Package. After an afternoon of activities, being able to stay onsite for dinner keeps the day simple.
There is no need to research restaurants, load everyone back into the car, or add another decision to the day.
Evening: Indoor pool swim
After dinner, head for a swim in the indoor pool. For young kids, this can be a fun way to burn off the last bit of energy before bed. There is a small indoor games room that is located on the way to the indoor pool; families could make a stop in there either on the way to or from the pool.
Then head back to the room for bedtime.
Day 2: A full day of included meals and activities
Breakfast: Start with an included meal
Begin the day with the breakfast buffet included in the package. This keeps the morning simple and helps you get straight into activities without planning where to eat.
Morning: Chairlift ride
Start with a chairlift ride. It gives kids something memorable to do without being too physically demanding, and it is a nice way to see the resort from a different view.
For families with little kids, this is a good “easy adventure” before moving into more active parts of the day.
Late morning: Rock climbing or another low-pressure activity
If your child is interested and meets the requirements, try rock climbing. Horseshoe lists the rock climbing requirement as a minimum height of 42 inches and minimum weight of 45 lbs, so it may not be suitable for every child five and under.
The benefit is that it is included, so if your child tries it and decides it is not for them, you can simply move on.
If rock climbing is not the right fit, choose another included activity such as mini golf, gemstone mining, a walk around the resort, or more time at the pool.
Lunch: Included onsite
Have lunch at the resort. This is where the all-inclusive format really helps. You are not paying separately each time, and you are not interrupting the day to figure out food.
Afternoon: Try Pickleball, then Return to Lake Horseshoe or swim
Use the afternoon to try something new, then repeat a favourite.
Pick up Pickleball paddles and balls on your way out of the hotel, and head to the courts that overlook the lake. For younger kids, treat it more like a fun game with paddles than a real match. Let them practice hitting the ball back and forth, chasing it, or trying to get it over the net a few times — no scoring, no pressure, no need to follow every rule. Since it’s included, it’s an easy activity to try for 10–15 minutes and move on if they’re not into it.
For many young kids, doing the same activity again is part of the fun. If they loved Lake Horseshoe, go back. If the pool was the highlight, swim again. If they want another round of gemstone mining or mini golf, do that.
The package works well because you do not need to force a packed schedule. There are enough inclusions that you can follow what your kids actually enjoy.
Dinner: Final included meal of the day
Finish with dinner onsite. After a full day of activities, having dinner included and close by keeps the evening easy.
If your visit falls on a Wednesday, you can also check out the free patio concert. It is a casual way for young kids to experience live music while still having space to move around on the grass or play nearby.
Evening: Keep it simple
After dinner, take a short walk, play another mini putt round, or head back to the room for an easy bedtime.
Why this works well for families with young kids
This itinerary is not about doing everything. It is about having enough included options that the trip feels easy.
The main value of the All-Inclusive Playcation Package is:
- You can arrive before 4pm and start using activities right away.
- Dinner is the first included meal on check-in day, so families can plan lunch accordingly.
- Meals are included from dinner onward, so there are fewer decisions and fewer surprise costs.
- Activities are included, so you can try things without pressure.
- Everything is close together, so transitions are easier.
- Young kids can repeat the activities they like.
- If an activity does not work for your child, you can move on without feeling like you wasted money.
- The resort is a short drive from the GTA, so the travel time is manageable.
For families with kids five and under, that flexibility matters. You can still make the most of your arrival day, even before your room is ready, and then settle into a full resort experience once check-in and dinner begin.
