1. BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
Prepping for a day at Horseshoe Resort’s? Here’s what you need to know!
Don’t forget your essentials – skis or snowboard, boots, helmet, and goggles. Need gear? No worries, we’ve got rentals to set you up for success. Dressing for success can be the difference between a good and not so good first time experience, so layer up, adventurers!
Start with moisture-wicking base layers, add an insulating mid-layer, and top it off with a waterproof, breathable outer layer. Don’t forget your gloves and a warm hat!

IMPORTANT: Be sure to book your rentals and lift ticket in advance!

HELPFUL HINT: Your Lift Ticket is your pass onto the ski hills. We use these phrases ‘ski pass’ and ‘lift ticket’ synonymously!
2. GETTING TO HORSESHOE RESORT – JUST 60 MINUTES NORTH OF TORONTO!
Directions: We’re conveniently located and easy to reach from major cities. Just a quick drive from Toronto, follow Highway 400 North and take Exit 117 for Horseshoe Valley Road. You’ll find us waiting with open arms and snowy slopes!
Parking: No stress, we’ve got plenty of parking spaces to accommodate and parking is free!
Resort Map: Navigate like a pro with our resort map, available on our website. It highlights all the key areas you’ll want to explore—rental shops for gearing up, beginner slopes for your first thrilling descent, and amenities to keep you fueled and entertained.

3. WHEN YOU ARRIVE
Your first day on the slopes is a big deal, and we’re stoked to make it as smooth and memorable as possible. Here’s what you need to know:
Rental Process: Getting geared up is a breeze. Head to our rental shop, where our friendly staff will help you find the perfect fit for skis, boots, and all the essentials. Just bring your ID and a sense of adventure!
Safety First: Before you hit the slopes, let’s talk safety. Always wear a helmet, follow the mountain signage, and remember—right of way goes to the person downhill. Keep it cool and respectful out there!
Beginner Zones: Welcome to your comfort zone, but way more exciting! Our beginner areas are designed to help you build confidence. They’re less crowded and feature gentler slopes, so you can learn at your own pace.
Taking a Lesson: Ready to level up? Our certified instructors are your personal adventure guides. Meet up at the designated points, usually near the beginner zones. Expect a warm welcome, expert guidance, and a whole lot of fun!
4. BEYOND THE BASICS
So you’ve got the basics down and you’re ready to take your skills to the next level? We’re all about that bold, fearless spirit!
Progressing to New Slopes: Feeling more confident? Awesome! When you’re ready to tackle more challenging slopes, start by doing a few runs with an instructor or experienced friend. Listen to your body and your comfort level—you’ll know when it’s time to elevate your game. Take a peek at our Winter Resort Map to get the lowdown on all the slopes. From chill beginner runs to adrenaline-pumping challenges, we’ve got it all mapped out for you. Learn the lingo of our trail symbols, so you know what to expect.
