Our Leaders in Training program is designed for teens interested in learning the basics of teaching and working with younger riders. Whether you’re preparing for your Level 1 certification or just looking to get a head start on the instructor application process for next season, this is the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on experience, build leadership skills, and become a positive role model on the hill. Beginner

RED | L1

Student has never skied before

GREEN | L2

Student has skied before and is comfortable on beginner terrain (Green trails). 

They should be able to:

  • Stop and turn both ways linking snowplow turns
  • Walk and climb uphill with skis on
  • Get up unassisted
  • These students are ready for the chairlift

Intermediate 

BLUE | L3

Student has taken lessons for one season or is able to do all of  the following: 

  • Able to stop & turn linking mixed radius snowplow turns
  • Ski Green runs while in a wide parallel stance
  • Working on or able to do “hockey stops”
  • Use chair lifts without assistance
  • These students are ready for Blue terrain

Advanced 

 BLACK | L4

Student has taken lessons or is able to do all of the following:

  • Can stop and link parallel turns on blue terrain 
  • Skis parallel on black terrain with pole plants. 
  • Turn shape is symmetrical and rhythmical.
  • Can carve turns on blue runs with edging at the fall line

Student has never snowboarded before

GREEN | L2

Student has snowboarded before, are comfortable on beginner terrain (Green trails) and can do the following:

 

They should be able to:

  • Straight run and stop
  • Toeside & Heelside slipping and pendulum controlling speed and direction
  • Walk and climb uphill with snowboard on
  • Get up unassisted
  • Use beginner carpets. These students are ready for the chairlift

Intermediate 

BLUE | L3

Student has taken lessons for one season or is able to do all of  the following: 

  • Able to stop & link toeside and heelside turns
  • Complete varied radius turns on both toe and heel side
  • 360 flat spins
  • Confidence at higher speeds
  • Comfortable on varied terrain, bumps and rollers
  • Use chair lifts without assistance
  • These students are ready for Blue terrain

Advanced 

BLACK | L4

Student has taken lessons or is able to do all of the following:

  • Can carve, increasing edge angle
  • Can do switch turns (riding with opposite foot forward) and ride at moderate speed
  • Comfortable on Black terrain
